Remote Browser sessions run on capacity provided by an Amazon WorkSpaces Applications fleet. Capacity is prepared and assigned as users request sessions; it is not a permanent computer reserved for each account.

Use this article for any capacity-related message or delay shown on the Remote Browser profile page.

Profile page button states

The capacity button beside an active on-demand session can display the following states:

  • Checking Capacity — The profile is retrieving the current status for your purchase. This normally changes automatically.
  • Request Capacity — No session is currently ready or reserved for this purchase. Select this button once to tell Remote Browser that you intend to connect. This creates a capacity request for your purchase and starts or adjusts fleet capacity when required.
  • Capacity Pending — Your request has been accepted, but its session capacity is not ready yet. Keep the profile page open and wait; the status is checked automatically approximately every ten seconds. Repeated clicks or refreshing the page will not make provisioning finish sooner.
  • Capacity Available — Capacity is ready and assigned to your request. Connect Now becomes available so that you can launch the session.
  • Session in Progress — A session for this purchase is already active.

The Connect Now button remains unavailable while capacity is pending. This prevents a launch attempt before a session can be assigned.

Subscription launches handle the same process automatically. After you select Connect Now, the button may show Preparing… and then Capacity Pending while capacity starts. The page continues checking and launches the session when capacity is ready.

What Request Capacity does

Select Request Capacity when it is enabled and you are ready to use your purchased session. The request:

  1. Records your place in the capacity queue for that purchase.
  2. Requests additional fleet capacity when no ready session is available.
  3. Changes to Capacity Pending while the requested capacity starts.
  4. Changes to Capacity Available when you can select Connect Now.

A capacity request does not launch the Remote Browser session. The connection is created after capacity becomes available and you select Connect Now.

Understanding fleet capacity

The capacity ticker and Session Availability page show the overall condition of each location, not only the capacity assigned to your purchase.

  • Ready — Running session instances that are prepared and not currently in use. A ready count above zero means a user may be able to connect immediately, although requests are assigned in order and the profile page remains the authoritative status for your purchase.
  • In use — Running instances currently serving other Remote Browser sessions. These become reusable only after those sessions end and the service prepares capacity again.
  • Pending — Instances requested by the service that are still starting. Pending capacity is expected to take time before it moves to Ready.

The Session Availability page summarises these counts as:

  • Available when ready capacity exists.
  • Starting when no instance is ready but one or more instances are pending.
  • Full when no session is available and no further capacity is currently pending.
  • Unavailable when the fleet is stopped or capacity information cannot be retrieved.

Counts can change while you are viewing the page as sessions start, end, and new instances become ready. A fleet-wide Ready count does not override Capacity Pending on your profile: another request may be ahead of yours or the ready instance may already be assigned.

What to do while capacity is pending

  1. Leave the profile page open and allow it to refresh the capacity status.
  2. Check the capacity ticker at the top of the site for your selected location.
  3. Open Session Availability for the detailed Ready, In use, and Pending counts.
  4. If the fleet shows Starting or has a Pending count above zero, wait for provisioning to complete.
  5. When the profile changes to Capacity Available, select Connect Now.

When to contact support

SafeJAM strives to ensure capacity is always available. If necessary, contact SafeJAM Support for a capacity issue only when the fleet for your selected location reports FULL in the ticker or Full on the Session Availability page.

Include the selected location, the time you observed the Full status, and a screenshot of the profile and availability status. Do not send passwords or session contents.
